![]() ![]() A novelty (although not very often exploited) are the obstacles on the boards. Only this and so much, because it is enough to present very exciting fights. In general, we attack health or destroy the opponent’s shield / armor to make him more vulnerable to future attacks. Movement space varies by race and character class, and action points per movement do not preclude action, so when you finish moving, choose whether to attack or use skills. They are still turn-based battles with alternating queues. The sensational combat system did not introduce any spectacular changes, but it managed to smuggle in a few improvements. Thanks to this, it was possible to maintain a balance between events that can be resolved peacefully and those in which an alternative to a sword can only be a larger sword. Bolverk’s campaign is much more focused on force. Varl Bolverk, fed up with Rook’s “softness”, takes everyone with him and leads his own crusade. Unfortunately, the console version does not have a Polish language version (the first Banner Saga had subtitles), so without a good command of English it is difficult to enjoy.Īs in the previous game, a second caravan also appears. When supplies were nearing depletion, an incident occurred that allowed me to get some food to survive the next few days. Throughout the game, it never happened to me that I ran out of food. The management of the caravan itself seems to be somewhat simplified. ![]() Maybe some events are similar, maybe something was taken from the “number one”, but in general, the caravan leading is sprinkled with many surprises. By accepting a well-trained squad of warriors into the group, won’t we let a kind of a Trojan horse into our ranks? Should the rebels go, or maybe stop them by force? Theoretically, we got more of the same, but we managed to avoid redundancy. We never know if our action will be counterproductive. Once again, these are the worst decisions. The extensive walls of the text introduce us to situations, present the views of other characters and leave room for making decisions. The events we encounter are presented in the form of text, just like in visual novel games. ![]() ![]() The caravan travels to its destination and faces many adversities along the way. What works in series doesn’t always work in games, and it does in this case as well. The creators slightly exaggerated, because in place of the solid ending (as before), we got a rather nasty cliffhanger introducing to the third part. It was not without a slip-up, because The Banner Saga 2 (PS4) suffers from the syndrome of the “middle part of the trilogy”, which means that by developing the previously known story, it lays the foundations for the last installment. We start the game from chapter eight, so the lack of knowledge of the predecessor may give the impression of dealing with a defective game. The creators did not waste time re-introducing the world, so they could use this space to add new characters and their stories. Suffice it to say that the story is even darker and even more interesting than before. Due to the mass of references to previous events, I am giving you further plot details. A caravan of humans and varli led by Rook (or Alette) has gained new allies and heads to the westernmost city of Arberrang – the human capital. The defeat of Bellower echoed widely in the game world. Let’s check how The Banner Saga 2 (PS4) fares. After all, there was a lot of room for improvement. However, even though the game charmed me, I decided to approach the sequel with a cool head. After a great adventure with The Banner Saga earlier this year, I wanted more. ![]()
